Hukuru Miskiiy

Hukuru Miskiiy or Friday Mosque is a 17th century mosque and a fine example of Maldivian workmanship. The ornate mosque has walls built of finely carved coral blocks, and its interiors are intricately carved. It is one of the most famous places to visit in Maldives.

Theemuge Palace

The Theemuge Palace is the erstwhile Presidential Palace of Male and one of the grandest buildings in the town. In 2008 the location of the President’s Residence was shifted and this Palace was converted into the Supreme Court of Maldives. It is still a popular place for tourists on a Maldives tour package to visit for photographs.

National Museum

This was the first National Museum in Maldives, and was established in 1952. The old building was extensively damaged in a fire, and a new building was constructed and opened to the public in 2010. It is one of the major Maldives tourist places even today. The Museum displays a variety of artefacts covering the history of the region, from the ancient Buddhist period onwards. The museum showcases the rich culture and heritage of Maldives.

Oddly enough, for a country known for its beaches, the residents of Malé actually get to enjoy an artificial beach on the eastern side of the island. The beach is ideal for swimmers and those who cannot go to the nearby islands to enjoy a beach.
